MAN FINDS MILLION DOLLAR TICKET
While searching through a convenience store dumpster a man found a discarded scratch off lottery ticket. It turned out to be worth $1 million dollars.
One of our ministry partners did not find a million dollars in a dumpster. However, she did find something of great value. Her story will inspire you.
In her lifetime, Joann Lee achieved great success in the business world. For example, while working for America’s largest credit reporting company she became their #1 salesperson.
Here is an interesting side story. Since she was the winner, the company did an interview with her for their magazine. The reporter asked her…
“What caused you to rise up quickly from average to tops?”
She shared about a seminar speaker named Bob Harrison whose teachings on “Increase Thinking” had inspired and motivated her to think and believe bigger. As a result of her comments, the company booked me to speak to their sales achievers at the meeting where she was given the award. It was a memorable day for both of us.
Now back to Joann’s story. During a sales trip she arrived at her son-in-law’s home late one night. Since she would be leaving the next morning she did not take the time to unload her car which was parked in the driveway. That evening thieves broke into the vehicle and stole thousands of dollars worth of clothes and jewelry. Even worse, they stole her appointment book. This book contained every appointment she had lined up for the next several months, plus the client’s personal notes and contact information.
Now mind you, she did not have any computer backups of this valuable information as this event happened in the 90’s.
Joann was desperate. Since the book had no value to anyone else, they figured the thief would have discarded it somewhere.
She and Fred went to prayer asking God to reveal where it might be. Suddenly Fred exclaimed that he felt he heard God speak to him the word… “dumpster.”
Acting on that they went to the back of the stores in the surrounding area and Fred searched for the book in dumpsters. After searching through the debris in a dozen of them, the book still was not found.
Even though it was 105 degrees they were not deterred. They expanded the search area and went through another dozen dumpsters. They still did not find the book.
EXTRAORDINARY COMMITMENT
Undeterred they expanded their search area even more and found the book…in the 36th dumpster.
My question to you is this: Might there be dreams, goals, projects, or relationships in your past where you did not achieve simply because you gave up too soon? If so, might this be a good time to revisit them with a new determination to succeed?
Best-selling author and international speaker Robert Schuller taught…
“Most people who succeed in life are those who simply refuse to quit.”
Dexter Yager, who at one time headed the world’s largest network marketing organization, said…
“Normally circumstances do not change until you refuse to give up.”
Remember, Elisha received a double portion only because he resisted the temptation to quit.
(2 Kings 2)
In life you might have to plow through some trash and garbage, but if you refuse to give up, a great prize could be waiting for you.
INCREASE VERSE
…we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.”
